A seasoned Indian classical dancer and choreographer, specialized in the revival and promotion of Karnataka’s classical traditions via the unique style a harmonious blend of Bharatanatyam, graceful movement, expressive storytelling, and precision in rhythm inspired by Natya and Drama theory. Creator and artistic director of Purushottama Nrithyalaya, dedicated to mentoring the next generation through dance-drama productions and promoting the holistic integration of art with life’s demands (“Natyam Paripoorna Jeevanam”). Mastery in expressive gesture (Abhinaya), footwork (Tatkar), rhythm (Laya), and narrative presentation. Theoretical understanding of Natya Shastra and regional dramaturgy. Prop creation using accessible materials and resourceful adaptations.
Punithraj is dedicated to reviving and promoting Karnataka’s traditional dance forms, similar to Bharatanatyam and Yakshagana, which date back to the state’s ancient centuries. He strives to bring recognition and appreciation to these forgotten dance styles, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
As a creative Artistic Director he has created and choreographed many dance such as Navashakti Vaibhava, Madike Nrithya, Ekalavya etc.. His team under his training has performed in various stages and has achieved good name. His major work is ‘Shivasambhuta Dance Drama’ produced in year 2023 and 'Talakada Vaibhava' in 2025. By setting the “Natyam Paripoorna Jeevanam” ias Motto and through his institution, he aims to preserve and promote Karnataka’s classical dance traditions. Purushottama Nrithyalaya is also specialized in producing Dance-Drama’s. Purushottama Nrithyalaya mainly focuses on balance the worklife (Dance & Studies/Work).
